School of Ancient Wisdom Teaching (Sat 5th Sept)
Our resident spiritual teacher Andrew Cohen is giving a live online talk in cooperation with The School of Ancient Wisdom.
Meditation and Enlightenment are One and the Same
“Meditation and enlightened awareness are fundamentally one and the same. The path and the goal are one.
One could say that there are three dimensions to both enlightened awareness and meditation: unconditional trust, paying attention and letting go.
Unconditional trust, or unconditional faith, means a fundamental or core existential trust in life itself.
Paying attention is the profound capacity to be peripherally and subtly aware, to be able to pay attention to the totality of experience.
Letting go means letting go of everything, perpetually. It does not mean letting go of this or that. It means letting go utterly and ceaselessly, in such a way that there is no gap of time.
These three dimensions are either the direct experience of enlightened awareness, or the practice of it. When we understand these dimensions, they can reveal to us the interface between the state of enlightened awareness and practicing the position of enlightenment.
If one is spontaneously awake to enlightened awareness, one is always already basking in these three dimensions, as one's natural state. At the same time, to practice these three dimensions is to give rise to enlightened awareness.”
— Andrew Cohen
This free talk is organised in partnership with The School of Ancient Wisdom. All Guests, Friends and Residents of Manifest Nirvana are welcome to join the call.
