What are the four selves that comprise the totality of selfhood?
Four Selves
For Intersubjective Nonduality to work stably and reliably, we need to develop more awareness of the different selves that operate within us.
In his teaching model, Andrew Cohen describes four selves through which we see and interpret our experience:
- The Unhealthy Ego
- The Healthy Ego
- The True Self
- The Authentic Self
Most of the time, the process of seeing, experiencing and cognizing reality is almost completely unconscious. Yet as you will discover, each self has a very different relationship to, and understanding of, reality.
Understanding the lens through which we are seeing, and cultivating objectivity about our own condition, is profoundly important if we want to become more conscious, more awakened human beings.
In this talk, Andrew looks at the important distinctions between these four selves, and how to identify which self we are operating from at any given time.
